Functionality and design of our SPI HYBRID System
Functionality and design of our SPI HYBRID System
The SPI HYBRID System contains of two cooling circuits using the natural refrigerants R290 and R744. This enables us to install both R290 and CO2 units in one market making use of the advantages of each system. In the next steps we will explain the system components and usage in detail.

SPI System
SPI System
At first, we install an AHT Semi Plug-in (SPI) System for the refrigeration and freezing devices. The structure and components are identical to those of the classic SPI System.
It consists of a waste heat unit & pump station, cooling & freezing units and optionally of cold room aggregates, hydraulic station, the OSSM, and a heat pump. In our example only the cooling and freezing units are installed as SPI system.

Adding the CO2 System
Adding the CO2 System
In this step, we are adding the CO2 units which are, in our example, cold room aggregates. For the setup and installation this system does not require a CO2 compressor rack and gas cooler as it is operated by a small unit which passes on the waste heat to the SPI system via a plate exchanger. Which units are running on CO2 and which are installed in the SPI system can be defined precisely to your requirements.
This allows us, to be fully flexible on the offered products and systems and creating the best possible option for your market.

Extending the CO2 units
Extending the CO2 units
It is also possible, to integrate e.g. an existing serve over counter or other CO2 components in the SPI HYBRID System. In this case, we expand the system adding a compact unit to deliver the refrigerant and moving the waste heat to the SPI System.

Hydraulic station & OSSM
Hydraulic station & OSSM
With AHT, there is the possibility to use the waste heat from the cooling process wisely. For this purpose, a hydraulic station is installed, and the AHT OSSM (One Stop Solution Manager) is integrated. The OSSM acts as a control unit between the hydraulic station and the existing heating system and its components (fan coils, AHU, underfloor heating, backup heating systems) in your market. In addition to heating, hot water processing can also be integrated into the system.
When installing a split waste heat unit with an external pump station, the hydraulic station is usually installed next to the pump station, eliminating the need for a separate machine room. For compact waste heat units with an integrated pump station, the hydraulic station can be placed anywhere indoors. Optionally, there is also the possibility to mount the hydraulic station on a wall.

Heat Recovery
Heat Recovery
The heat generated by the cooling system is now supplied to the premises through the heating system. If the heating demand is higher than the supplied recovered heat, the brine temperature can be increased to cover a greater heat demand. This functionality comes into play during the colder seasons, reducing the heating load of the heating system and your costs.

Operation mode summer
Operation mode summer
During the summer months, the reversible air-to-water heat pump functions for space cooling. In this process, the cooled air is directly fed into the heating system to cool the premises. The heat generated by the cooling and freezing system is discharged into the surroundings via the waste heat unit.

Active Monitoring System
Active Monitoring System
With the Active Monitoring Ticketing System various data (Alarms, Data, Functionality, etc.) is reported to AHT to ensure the best possible operation of the units. The AMS can be setup or connected to an existing system if an interface is provided. With this essential add-on you are on the safe side and AHT supports you in its best possible way.
